Vincent Béal

Vincent Béal is a Senior Lecturer in Political Science at Université Jean Monnet – Saint-Étienne, affiliated with the TRIANGLE research unit (UMR 5206). His research focuses on urban sociology, public policy, and territorial marginalization, with a particular emphasis on urban decline, environmental policies, and state restructuring. He holds a HDR in Political Science (2023) and a PhD in Political Science from Université Jean Monnet (2011).

Key research interests include the governance of differentiated territories, urban policies, and the sociological analysis of public action. Recent work explores socio-spatial inequalities through statistical approaches in French urban areas and participatory projects like the ANR-funded 'Beyond Left-Behind Places.'
