Dr. Vince Polito is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychological Sciences at Macquarie University, Sydney. He leads the MicroDep Trial investigating low-dose psilocybin for moderate depression and is affiliated with the Macquarie University Ethics and Agency Research Centre. His research focuses on altered states of consciousness, sense of agency, and body representation, with applications in psychedelics, meditation, and virtual reality. He has secured over $7.6M in grants, including industry-funded trials and government grants.
Polito holds a PhD in Cognitive Science and a BPsych (Hons) from Macquarie University. His work spans clinical, cognitive, and neuroscience domains, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to understanding human cognition. Notable awards include the 2023 Most Influential People in Psychedelics and the 2022 NSW Tall Poppy Award.
His research explores topics such as microdosing efficacy, hypnotic phenomena, and digital media impacts on self-representation. Key projects include virtual reality applications for anorexia nervosa and the Open Psychometric Assessment Library (OPAL).
