Viktor Paul Müller is a Researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI, working in the Department of Energy Policy and Energy Markets since 2021. He holds a PhD from Utrecht University and has lectured at the University of Applied Sciences Bingen. His expertise spans renewable energy systems, particularly green hydrogen and Power-to-X technologies. Müller has coordinated national and international projects, including WinIt (industrial transformation), HYPAT (global hydrogen potential analysis), and IKI MENALINKS (regional energy cooperation).
- Education: B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering and M.Sc. Energy Science at TU Darmstadt, with studies abroad in Spain and Portugal.
- Research Focus: Energy system transformation, sector coupling, techno-economic evaluation of decarbonization pathways.
His work emphasizes macro-economic impacts of energy transitions, with notable contributions to hydrogen diplomacy, export strategies for developing countries, and China's role in green technology leadership. Müller has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications and reports, including comprehensive analyses of Algeria's and Saudi Arabia's hydrogen potential.
Key projects include assessments of Power-to-X investment opportunities in Algeria, decarbonization pathways for Southeast Asia, and the role of green hydrogen in fossil fuel exporter economies. He has also advised on German hydrogen import strategies and conducted input-output analyses for economic diversification.
Labs/Teams: Core member of the HYPAT consortium, contributing to techno-economic modeling frameworks for international hydrogen supply chains.
