Viktor Burghardt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Michigan, part of the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA). He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Northwestern University, as well as M.S. degrees from Northwestern University and ETH Zurich, and a B.S. from KIT Karlsruhe.
His research focuses on motivic homotopy theory, with contributions to topics such as the motivic Steenrod algebra and Witt cohomology. He has organized academic seminars including the Motivic Seminar (Northwestern University, 2020) and the Étale Reading Group (Northwestern University, 2020). His preprint The Dual Motivic Witt Cohomology Steenrod Algebra (2021) reflects his expertise in this field.
Dr. Burghardt has taught courses such as Math 214 (Applied Linear Algebra) at the University of Michigan. He actively participates in academic outreach and collaborative research, with a strong emphasis on algebraic topology and geometric structures.
