Vikrant Vig is the William R. Timken Professor of Finance at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. He holds the Spence Faculty Fellowship for 2024–2025. His research focuses on corporate finance, financial regulation, and political economy, with notable contributions on securitization, banking practices, and the labor-market consequences of financial distress. Vig teaches advanced courses in corporate valuation, empirical corporate finance, and financial markets.
His work bridges theoretical and empirical finance, examining how regulatory frameworks, political dynamics, and institutional structures influence financial markets and corporate behavior. Recent studies explore model-based regulation, fire sale discounts in asset markets, and the political economy of bank bailouts. Vig’s research has been published in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics and the Quarterly Journal of Economics.
Teaching includes advanced corporate finance, empirical methods, and market-making strategies. He advises on research through the GSBGEN 697 Practicum. Awards include the prestigious Spence Faculty Fellowship, recognizing his scholarly impact.
