Vijay Subramanian

Vijay Subramanian is a Professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) Department at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He has held academic positions continuously since 2006, including prior roles at Northwestern University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Research Interests: His work spans the broad areas of electrical and computer engineering, with emphasis on communication networks, information theory, control theory, and applied probability. These domains underpin modern networked systems and statistical signal processing.

Career Timeline: After completing his Ph.D. in 1999, he spent seven years at Motorola’s research arm. In 2006 he returned to academia as a Research Fellow at the Hamilton Institute, National University of Ireland, Maynooth; subsequently held visiting and research roles at MIT LIDS and Northwestern University; and served as Adjunct Associate Research Professor at UIUC before joining the University of Michigan.
