معرفی
Vijay Pande is an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University, holding appointments in Chemistry, Structural Biology, and Computer Science. He directs the Stanford Program in Biophysics and the Folding@home Distributed Computing project, pioneering computational methods to study protein folding dynamics and drug design for neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s.
- Princeton University (B.A. in Physics, 1992)
- MIT (Ph.D. in Physics, 1995)
- Miller Fellow at UC Berkeley
His research focuses on cloud computing simulations to address problems in chemical biology, including Markov State Models, molecular dynamics, and machine learning applications. Folding@home, his distributed computing initiative, has harnessed over 4 million PCs to simulate protein folding at unprecedented timescales.
- Biophysical Society’s Bárány Award for Young Investigators
- Protein Society’s Irving Sigal Young Investigator Award
- MIT TR100 recognition
- American Physical Society Fellow
The Pande lab develops theoretical methods to study biomolecular self-assembly, combining statistical mechanics and supercomputing resources to advance therapeutic design. Their work bridges experimental timescales and computational modeling, with applications in neurodegenerative disease research.
