Viera Lorencova is a Professor in the Communications Media department at Fitchburg State University, affiliated with the School of Arts and Sciences. She teaches courses such as Introduction to Women's Studies, Media and Society, and Gender and Communication, and serves as Graduate Program Chair for the Applied Communication program.

Research Interests
Dr. Lorencová conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of communication, media, feminist, and queer studies. Her recent projects include:
- Cultural production for/by/about LGBTQI+ communities in contemporary Slovakia
- Public health campaigns and social change
- Collaborative studies on the health of the Fitchburg community (2017-2019)
She employs qualitative methods like ethnographic interviews, participant observation, and discourse analysis.
Grants and Collaborations
- Co-investigator on three interdisciplinary Health of Fitchburg Community projects funded by a 3-year $240,000 grant from the Lloyd G. Balfour Foundation, Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts, and Avantor Sciences Foundation
