Victoria Shore is the Deputy Head of Social Work at the University of Chester, affiliated with the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society. She joined the university in March 2022 and assumed her current role in April 2024. Her professional background includes advanced social work practice, specializing in transitions for individuals with learning disabilities moving from Children’s to Adult Services. She holds a BA (Hons) in Social Work from Sheffield Hallam University (2004-2007), a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (University of Chester), and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice with Children and their Families (University of Sheffield). She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Her research focuses on neurodiversity, life transitions, trauma, and the impact of caregiving roles. Teaching responsibilities include leading modules such as Human Growth and Development, Approaches to Research, Sociology and Social Justice, and Preparation for Registration on the Social Work Degree Apprenticeship program. She serves as the Disability Link Tutor, supporting students with Inclusion Plans across Warrington and Shrewsbury campuses.
Victoria’s work emphasizes empowerment and independence for individuals with learning disabilities, breaking social barriers through advocacy and practical support. She is part of the Health and Wellbeing Research and Knowledge Exchange Institute, contributing to interdisciplinary initiatives in health and social care.
