Victoria Manning is a Professor in Addiction Studies at Monash University and Head of Research and Workforce Development at Turning Point in Victoria, Australia. She is a clinical psychologist and founder of the SWiPE Brain Training app, specializing in neurocognition and co-occurring disorders. Her research focuses on psychological, neurocognitive, pharmacological, and peer-based interventions for addiction, with a particular emphasis on cognitive bias modification and smartphone-delivered therapies.
Education: PhD in Psychological Medicine from King's College London (2008), MSc in Health Psychology from the University of London (2000), and BSc(Hons) in Psychology with Dance Studies from the University of Surrey (1995).
Research Interests: Addiction comorbidities, neuropsychology, alcohol and drug treatment, and digital health interventions. She leads projects such as the AAT-APP Trial (alcohol approach-avoidance training) and the Modify pilot trial (smartphone-based smoking cessation).
Notable Achievements: Received the LearnX Live! Platinum Award in 2020. Active in editorial roles for journals like Drug and Alcohol Review and European Addiction Research.
Advising and Grants: Supervises PhD, Masters, and DClinPsych students. Leads multiple research grants, including projects on cognitive rehabilitation for substance use disorders and telehealth adaptations during the pandemic.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Turning Point Research team and collaborates internationally on projects like the Linking Clinical and Basic Science Discovery initiative.
