Victoria D'Souza is a Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University, located in the Northwest Building in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her research focuses on structural determinants of reverse transcription and gene translation in retroviruses like HIV, Human T-cell leukemia virus, and Moloney murine leukemia virus (MLV). Using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and other biophysical methods, her lab investigates RNA and protein structures critical to retroviral replication.
- Current projects include primer placement during reverse transcription and readthrough translation mechanisms involving RNA pseudoknots.
- Her team collaborates with Dr. Stephen Goff's lab at Columbia University to study retroviral mRNA regulation.
- She holds a significant research focus on RNA biology, particularly in HIV and MLV systems.
Her lab's recent publications highlight innovative techniques in RNA labeling, structural analysis, and mechanisms of translational control in retroviruses. She has contributed extensively to understanding RNA-protein interactions in viral replication.
