Dr. Victoria Cox is a Researcher and PhD candidate at Menzies School of Health Research, collaborating with the Northern Territory Centre for Disease Control. She holds an MBBS (First Class Honours) from the University of Adelaide (2014) and an MPhil in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation from the University of Oxford (2015 as a Monash Scholar). Her work focuses on improving healthcare provision in northern Australia through health systems research, policy, and community interventions, with a clinical specialization in infectious dermatology and skin-related Neglected Tropical Diseases (skin-NTDs). Currently, she leads a project funded by the Australian Centre for the Control and Elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (ACE-NTDs) to estimate scabies burden and evaluate ivermectin-based mass drug administration (MDA) in Indigenous communities.
Her research spans tropical infectious diseases (e.g., Buruli ulcer, Mycobacterium ulcerans), Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander health equity, and public health policy. Key contributions include advancing access to ivermectin through pharmaceutical scheme reforms, publishing clinical guidelines for Buruli ulcer management, and advocating for skin health programs in northern Australia.
