Victor Zue is the Delta Electronics Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. He previously directed the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science (LCS) and co-directed the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) for a decade. Currently, his focus includes managing CSAIL's sponsor relationships in Taiwan. His research spans spoken language systems, human-computer interaction, and AI/ML, pioneering technologies for natural spoken interfaces. He leads the Spoken Language Systems Group, aiming to enable global natural language computer interaction.
Research interests emphasize advancing speech recognition, dialogue systems, and accessibility through computational linguistics. Awards include the Okawa Prize (2012) and IEEE Flanagan Award (2013), alongside prestigious fellowships from major scientific societies.
His career transitioned from foundational work in acoustic phonetics to applied spoken language interfaces, with leadership roles shaping MIT's CSAIL. Current efforts prioritize industry-academia collaboration via sponsor engagement in Taiwan.
