Victor Muñoz Gómez

Victor Muñoz Gómez is a Professor of Medieval History at the Department of Historical Sciences, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and a member of the Institute for Textual Analysis and Applications (IATEXT). He holds a PhD in History from the University of Valladolid (2016), where his thesis focused on the Crown, lordships, and clientelist networks in late medieval Castile, earning an 'Outstanding cum laude' classification and the PhD Thesis Extraordinary Prize. His academic career includes postdoctoral research under the Juan de la Cierva Program (2018-2020) and teaching roles at the Lycée Français de Tenerife (2014-2018).

His research interests center on medieval political systems, aristocratic power dynamics, and historical narratives in Castile and Catalonia. He has explored topics such as jurisdictional lordship, Mediterranean history, gender roles in medieval society, and the textual analysis of conquest narratives in the Canary Islands. He has organized international conferences, contributed to over 90 academic events globally, and authored numerous articles, book chapters, and edited volumes.

Professor Muñoz Gómez has received prestigious awards, including the BA Extraordinary First Prize (2004) and a National Third Prize in University Education. His work bridges historical methodology with socio-political analysis, emphasizing the intersection of power, narrative, and identity in medieval Iberia.
