Victor M. Lubecke serves as Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Hawaii at Manoa within the College of Engineering. His academic career spans over two decades, including prior research roles at Bell Laboratories, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and RIKEN in Japan. He holds IEEE Fellowship and National Academy of Inventors recognition.
His educational background includes:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering from California Polytechnic Institute, Pomona (1986)
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering from California Institute of Technology (1990)
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from California Institute of Technology (1995)
Dr. Lubecke's research centers on remote sensing and imaging technologies, biomedical sensors, animal tracking systems, MEMS, heterogeneous semiconductor integration, and microwave/terahertz radio applications. His work bridges engineering disciplines to solve challenges in healthcare monitoring, environmental tracking, and wireless communications infrastructure.
His honors include the Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference's Microwave Prize (2000), multiple IEEE student paper awards (2001-2006), TechConnect's Emerging Technology Award (2007), and dual recognition as IEEE Fellow and National Academy of Inventors Distinguished Member.
Dr. Lubecke has mentored eight doctoral candidates, four master's students, and over sixty undergraduates in research projects. He co-founded Kai Medical (serving as CTO) and currently serves as Vice President of Adnoviv Technologies, holding seven U.S. patents with several pending.
