Victor H. Perez-Luna

Victor H. Perez-Luna is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering and Director of Undergraduate Affairs in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology (Armour College of Engineering). He holds a Ph.D. (1995) and M.S. (1989) from the University of Washington and Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico, respectively, alongside a B.S. in Chemical Engineering (1987).

His research focuses on surface chemistry, biosensors, biomaterials, hydrogels for biomedical applications, and nanotechnology. Key projects include developing high-density biosensor arrays (IIT ChemArray), 3D hydrogel patterning for tissue engineering, and surface-modified metallic nanoparticles for biomedical and analytical applications. He collaborates with the Biomedical Engineering department on tissue engineering initiatives.

Professional affiliations include the American Chemical Society and American Vacuum Society. His publications include contributions to Surface Plasmon Resonance (2005), Colloidal Gold (2004), and Two-dimensional patterning of proteins (1999). He leads interdisciplinary research teams and maintains labs focused on nanotechnology and biomaterials innovation.
