Victor B. Lieberman is the Raoul Wallenberg Distinguished University Professor of History and Professor of Asian and Comparative History at the University of Michigan since 1984. He specializes in early modern Southeast Asia and Eurasia, focusing on political and cultural integration patterns. His seminal works include Burmese Administrative Cycles (1984) and the two-volume Strange Parallels (2003–2009), which compare Southeast Asian dynamics with Europe and Japan.
