معرفی
Dr. Vicky Skoulou is an Assoc. Professor (Senior Lecturer) in Chemical Engineering at the University of Hull, leading the B3 Challenge Group focused on Biomass Waste–BioenergH2–Biochars. She serves as Graduate Research Director (GRD) of the School of Engineering, overseeing ~29 research projects funded by UK/EU bodies. Her expertise spans thermochemical conversion of biomass wastes (pyrolysis/gasification), low-carbon energy systems, and industrial symbiosis. She has pioneered mobile gasification units and developed novel catalysts for hydrogen production. Awards include Faculty Excellence Awards (2021/22) and top researcher honors at Aristotle University (2010–2011).
Education:
- MEng, PhD/DPhil, MSc (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki)
- PGCert (University of Hull)
Research Interests: Design of thermochemical reactors, circular economy strategies for biomass waste, AI-driven sustainable solutions, and decarbonized energy systems for industry/buildings. Active in EU Cost Actions (LIASE, PoTArch) as UK representative and Vice Chair.
Key Projects:
- THYME series: Lignin waste valorization (£370k)
- Bluegen: Biorefinery residue hydrogen production (£63k)
- BRISK/BRISEK: International facility access grants (€13k+)
Awards: Over £7k in travel grants for EU policy workshops, plus national/international research accolades. Supervised 9+ PhD students and 5+ postdocs, with alumni in academia and industry.
Labs/Teams: Leads Energy & Environment Institute (EEI) research streams, collaborates with industry partners (e.g., Jesmond Engineering, VTT Technical Research Centre). Oversees multidisciplinary modules in bioenergy, process safety, and sustainability.
