Vibeke Mascini is a Professor of Sculpture at the Fine Arts department of the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK), currently on sabbatical (2024-2025). She holds a BFA from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and has completed residencies at institutions like Delfina Foundation London and the Rijksakademie Amsterdam.
Her practice explores themes of energy, interconnectedness, and ecological systems through interdisciplinary collaboration with scientists, engineers, and institutions. Notable projects include:
- "Instar (6.9 kWh)" (2023): A battery installation fueled by incinerated cocaine powering moth pupae incubation
- "Rendezvous" (2022): A CO2-sensing installation using 3D-scanned dinosaur footprints
- "doodsreutel" (2017-2022): Reviving the Dutch word 'death rattle' through media campaigns
Research affiliations include the 'Design & The Deep Future Research Group' and KABK's Lectorate programs. Her work bridges art with fields like paleontology, environmental science, and lexicography.
