Dr. Veronique Richard is a Lecturer at the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Queensland. She is also an Affiliate of the Health and Wellbeing Centre for Research Innovation. With expertise spanning performance psychology and creativity, Dr. Richard bridges the worlds of high-performance sports, circus arts, and wellbeing research.
Her educational background includes:
- Masters (Research) from the University of Montreal
- Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Montreal
- Postdoctoral fellowship in Sport Psychology at Florida State University
Dr. Richard's research focuses on designing creativity-supportive environments across various contexts including sport, education, and healthcare. She investigates how enriched movement activities impact cognitive, affective, and socio-cultural variables related to creativity and wellbeing. Her work stems from extensive experience as a mental performance consultant for Canadian national sports organizations and Cirque du Soleil, where she observed the challenges of balancing high-level performance with wellbeing among athletes and performers.
Her publications reveal a strong emphasis on the intersection of creativity and movement, with recent work exploring applications in diverse fields from emergency medicine to rural healthcare services. She has published extensively on topics including movement creativity in circus arts, creative dance impacts on creative potential, and the application of performance psychology principles across high-pressure domains.
