Dr. Veronika Tenczer is a Senior Scientist (Research Fellow) at the University of Salzburg, specializing in Environment and Biodiversity. Her research integrates field studies, geochemical analysis, and geochronology to investigate alpine sedimentation, tectonic evolution, and metamorphic processes.
Research Focus: Her work spans environmental science, geology, and geochemistry, with emphasis on:
- Alpine geomorphology and sediment dynamics (e.g., Taugl region studies)
- Geochemical and mineralogical analysis of soils and rocks
- Tectonic history of East Africa and the Alps
- Metamorphic petrology and geochronology of granulite terrains
Recent Publication Trends (2013-2024): Dominated by alpine environmental processes (soil erosion, catchment dynamics) and East African orogeny, utilizing U-Pb zircon dating, geochemical mapping, and structural analysis. Earlier work focused on Pan-African tectonics and metamorphic fluid evolution.
Projects:
- CLIMB (2024-2028): Co-Investigator studying climate impacts on sediment dynamics in mountain basins
- AnPe (2021-2026): Principal Investigator for applied petrography research
- AsMi (2021-2022): Principal Investigator evaluating EDX mineral analyses for asbestos detection
- Asbest (2019-2020): Co-Investigator for mineralogical asbestos investigations
- OCOAS: Co-Investigator comparing Ordovician orogen remnants in Austria-Serbia
Leadership: Chair of the Austrian Geological Society (ÖGG) since 2023 and contributor to Pangeo-Deuqua2024 conference organization.
