Dr. Veronica Zamora-Gutierrez is a Lecturer in Ecology at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the Department of Ecology and Evolution. She holds membership in the Institute for Life Sciences, Ecology and Evolution research group, and the Sustainability and Resilience Institute (SRI). Her work focuses on understanding how human activities impact biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services, and pathogen dynamics in bats. She completed her Biology studies in Mexico, developing a lifelong passion for bat ecology.
Her research spans bat migration patterns, plant-pollinator networks, and the role of non-English scientific literature in global conservation. Current projects include UAV technology for subterranean habitat conservation and agrochemical effects on bat-plant interactions. She actively supervises PhD students and accepts new applications.
Key contributions include studies on coronavirus prevalence in disturbed bat populations and the importance of wild pollinators. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges ecological research with conservation policy, emphasizing global biodiversity assessments using multilingual scientific evidence.
