Dr. Veronica Sofianos is a Lecturer/Assistant Professor at the University College Dublin (UCD) School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering since 2020. She holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Ioannina, recognized with the 'Best Thesis' award in 2014. Prior roles include Research Fellowships at Curtin University (Australia) and casual academic positions at the University of Melbourne.
Research: Her work focuses on nanomaterials for sustainable energy, including thermochemical energy storage using limestone-based materials and green hydrogen production via electrocatalytic water splitting. Key areas include additive engineering for improved material performance, electrocatalyst design, and scalable synthesis methods.
