New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technologyمعرفی
Dr. Veronica Prush is an Assistant Professor of Geology at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech), Department of Earth and Environmental Science. Her research focuses on structural geology, active tectonics, and earthquake hazards, employing methods such as Quaternary mapping, remote sensing, and geochronology. She holds a B.S. in Geology from Juniata College (2010), an M.S. in Geophysics from Cornell University (2013), and a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of California, Davis (2020). Before joining New Mexico Tech, she conducted postdoctoral research at McGill University (2020–2022).
Education:
- B.S. Geology, minor in Spanish – Juniata College (2010)
- M.S. Geophysics – Cornell University (2013)
- Ph.D. Geology – University of California, Davis (2020)
Research Interests: Dr. Prush investigates deformation partitioning in the Earth's crust, with a focus on active tectonics and earthquake hazards. Her work integrates field-based studies with statistical methods to refine fault slip rate datasets. Recent projects include analyzing the Altyn Tagh Fault in China and Quaternary faults in Québec and New Mexico. She also develops geochronological models and applies remote sensing techniques to environmental and geophysical challenges.
Teaching: Courses include Structural Geology (GEOL 353), Interdisciplinary Field Research (GEOL 432), and Field Methods in Earth Science/Field Camp (GEOL 480).
