Veronica Ferreri

Veronica Ferreri is a Research Fellow at the Department of Humanities, Ca' Foscari University of Venice. She is also affiliated with the Department of Anthropology at the University of Waterloo (Canada) through her project Archivwar – Archives in Times of War, which examines legal document archives in Syrian families in Europe.

• PhD in Social Anthropology from SOAS, University of London (2018)
• Researcher at Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient (2018-2021)

Her research integrates Social Anthropology and Migration Studies to explore themes like:

• Exile and displacement
• Vernacular humanitarianism
• Bureaucracy's role in refugee integration
• Archival practices in conflict zones

Her recent publications (2025) analyze archival poetics and existential conditions in displacement contexts. She received the Leigh Douglas Memorial Prize (2019) for her ethnographic work on Syrian war experiences.
