Veronica C. Jones

Veronica C. Jones, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery and Division of Health Equities at City of Hope. She holds dual roles as Chief of the Division of Breast Surgery and Associate Professor in the Department of Population Sciences. Her work bridges clinical surgery, cancer biology research, and health equity initiatives.

Dr. Jones graduated with honors from Stanford University (B.A. in Cultural Anthropology) and Meharry Medical College (M.D.). She completed surgical training at Baylor University Medical Center and a fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at Emory University. Her career has been marked by awards such as the Raman Award and recognition in Los Angeles Magazine and Super Doctors.

Research Interests: Dr. Jones investigates aggressive breast cancer biology across racial/ethnic groups, with a focus on luminal B subtypes in African American and Latina patients. Her lab explores molecular pathways and preclinical drug development using gene sequencing and animal models. She also addresses disparities in breast cancer treatment, survivorship care, and immediate reconstruction access for underserved populations.
