Dr. Veronda Willis is an Associate Professor of Accounting at The University of Texas at Tyler, affiliated with the Soules College of Business. She holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Colorado at Boulder, alongside master’s and bachelor’s degrees from The University of Texas at Austin, and an associate’s degree from Tyler Junior College. Her teaching focuses on financial accounting and reporting, particularly Intermediate Accounting, while her research emphasizes accounting education, decision-making, and standards.
Dr. Willis has been recognized with the Outstanding Faculty Award from the Texas Alpha Xi Chapter of Alpha Chi (2010–2011). Her publications span accounting education and regulatory topics in journals like Accounting, Organizations, & Society and Journal of Accounting and Finance. She is actively involved in professional organizations, including the American Accounting Association and the National Association of Black Accountants.
Before academia, she worked as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers and in industry accounting. She previously advised the UT Tyler Beta Alpha Psi chapter and serves on the board of the East Texas Chapter of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Her commitment extends to mentoring students and preparing them for professional success in accounting and beyond.
