Verena Wolf is a Ph.D. candidate in German Studies at the University of California at Berkeley. Her research focuses on late 19th to 21st century literary cultures, women and gender studies, postcolonial and critical theory, climate fiction, and ecocriticism. She holds a Magistra Artium and Erstes Staatsexamen (Master’s of Education) in History, English, and Education from Goethe University Frankfurt (2016), and a Master of Arts in German Studies from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa (2013). Her thesis Koloniale Völkerschauen in Frankfurt received the Stiftungsfonds Kopper Award. Before Berkeley, she taught English, German, and History at Colegio Alemán in Guatemala City and completed teacher training in Freiburg. She aims to support first-generation college students through her future academic and educational work.
Verena has been supported by scholarships including the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, Deutschlandstipendium, and the Verband Deutsch-Amerikanischer Clubs e.V. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges historical analysis with contemporary issues like climate fiction and postcolonial discourse.
