Verena Paul

Verena Paul is a Research Fellow at the Department of Medical Psychology within the Faculty of Medicine at the Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). Her work focuses on psychosocial aspects of pediatric cancer care, particularly the mental health of parents and survivors. She leads studies investigating parental anxiety/depression, sibling well-being, and healthcare support gaps in long-term survivorship.

Her research employs mixed-methods approaches, combining quantitative epidemiological analyses with qualitative content analysis to understand family experiences. Key areas include transition care for adolescent survivors and optimizing support services through patient/family feedback loops. Over 8 peer-reviewed articles (2022–2025) demonstrate her contributions to childhood cancer survivorship research.
