Verena Müller is a Researcher and doctoral student at the Chair of Law, Innovation, and Legal Design within the Department of Science, Technology and Society (STS) at the Technical University of Munich. Her work focuses on the intersection of new technologies, artificial intelligence, and their implications for human, health, and environmental protection. Her doctoral project, 'Sustainability by Design,' explores ecological impacts of AI and develops legal and design strategies to harmonize innovation with environmental stewardship.
Before joining TUM, she studied law at the University of Bayreuth, specializing in public economics and environmental law. She also completed a technical-scientific degree in engineering at Bayreuth and trained as a paramedic, blending legal, technical, and healthcare expertise. Key research interests include AI regulation, technology law, sustainable technology design, and healthcare technology ethics.
She contributes to the 'RechTech' project, analyzing legal reflections in technology development consultations. Her publications address EU AI Act impacts on digital health and legal aspects of AI-driven language simplification in public administration.
Her interdisciplinary background bridges law, engineering, and healthcare, positioning her to address complex socio-technical challenges in innovation governance.
