معرفی
Verena Jantsch is a Professor in the Department of Chromosome Biology at Max Perutz Labs, University of Vienna. With a research career spanning over three decades from 1993 to present, she has established herself as a leading expert in chromosome dynamics during meiosis using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism.
Her research focuses on several interconnected areas of chromosome biology:
- Meiosis and chromosome segregation mechanisms
- Nuclear pore and nuclear membrane functions in chromosome organization
- Synapsis and homologous recombination during meiotic prophase
- Chromosome movement and dynamics
- Homologous chromosome interactions and pairing
Dr. Jantsch's recent publications reveal a continued emphasis on the molecular mechanisms governing meiotic chromosome behavior, particularly examining DNA repair pathways, telomere biology, and the regulation of meiotic entry. Her work elegantly bridges molecular genetics with cell biology to understand fundamental processes of chromosome maintenance and transmission.
She is currently leading multiple significant research projects including "Genome Instability" (2024-2028), "The role of DNA damage kinase DDK in meiotic recombination" (2024-2027), and mentoring postdoctoral fellow Cristina QUESADA CANDELA through the Vienna International PostDoc Program (2023-2025).
As an active member of the scientific community, Dr. Jantsch regularly presents her research findings at international conferences, with upcoming presentations scheduled through 2025 on cutting-edge topics in meiotic chromosome dynamics and movement.
