Verena Carvalho

Verena Carvalho is a Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. With a Ph.D. in Marine Microbiology from the University of Bremen, Germany (2011), her research focuses on large sulfur bacteria, microbial ecology, and biogeochemical processes in marine and extreme environments.

She employs single-cell sequencing and field experiments to investigate microbial community interactions and their environmental impacts.
