Vera Pahle

Vera Pahle serves as an Associate Professor at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) in the Department of Design, with concurrent appointment as Associate Professor II at NTNU in Gjøvik. Her academic career spans over a decade with previous positions as Senior Lecturer at AHO (2010-2019) and NTNU in Gjøvik (2012-2024), along with teaching roles at Kristiania University College and BI Norwegian School of Business.

Her educational background includes Professional Development for Teachers in Architecture, Design and Conservation from Aarhus University (2020-2021), studies at Westerdals Høyskole (1981-1983), University of Iowa (graphic design, 1980-1981), and Université de Sorbonne (French, 1979-1980).

Vera's research interests focus on design education methodologies, brand identity systems, visual communication strategies, and service design approaches. Her work bridges theoretical design frameworks with practical applications in branding and visual identity development, emphasizing experiential learning and social innovation.

Her publications demonstrate a consistent focus on design education and pedagogical approaches, with particular emphasis on teaching experiences for social innovation and documenting design student work through comprehensive portfolios.

Vera Pahle has served as course responsible for Introduction to Design, Identity and Service Design (5th semester), and Elective Course Brand and Visual Identity at AHO. Her current institutional service includes membership on the Learning Environment Strategy Group (2025-present) and the Admissions Committee (2024-present) at AHO, following previous leadership roles with Grafill (2011-2023) where she chaired the Fund Board.

Her professional practice extends beyond academia through her extensive industry experience as founder of Deville Design and work with Pentagram Design in London, providing real-world context to her academic contributions in design education.
