Vera Kühne

Vera Kühne is a Research Fellow at the Malariology Unit of the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Antwerp (2020) and has expertise in tropical medicine, parasitology, and healthcare diagnostics in resource-limited settings. Her current role involves coordinating the IMMETASEX project investigating Plasmodium parasite immunity in Mozambique and Burkina Faso.

Education includes a BSc in Biology from the University of Tübingen and an MSc in Molecular Biology & Biotechnology from the University of Hamburg. She has held roles as Educational Coordinator (2019–2023) and managed laboratory operations in Gabon's CERMEL institute.

Research focuses on visceral leishmaniasis diagnostics, healthcare contamination control, and tropical disease education. She has authored/co-authored 11 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to projects like EUROLEISHNET. Her teaching includes coordinating tropical medicine courses and developing e-learning resources.
