Vera Coleman is a Senior Lecturer and Director of the Spanish Language Program at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. She coordinates elementary and intermediate language courses, trains teaching assistants, and has previously taught composition, conversation, and literature courses in Spanish and Latin American studies.

Her research examines contemporary Latin American literature, film, and art through an environmental lens, focusing on material ecocriticism, gender studies, indigenous ecologies, and environmental justice. She integrates critical and social justice approaches to language instruction, emphasizing cultural awareness and empathy.
Vera has received awards from AILCFH, Feministas Unidas, and ASLE. She co-founded the digital humanities project Latam-Films, serves as its Production Manager, and contributes to the Humanities for the Environment global network as an Affiliate, including subtitling work for Juan Carlos Galeano’s film El río.
