Dr. Vera Bense is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Atmospheric Physics, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany. She works within the Airborne Measurements and UTLS Transport Processes group led by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Peter Hoor.
Her research focuses on air mass exchange across the tropopause and interhemispheric differences in lower stratosphere dynamics. Utilizing trace gas fluxes, slope analysis, and airborne measurement campaigns like WISE 2017 (North Atlantic) and SouthTRAC 2019 (South America), she investigates transport processes shaping the composition of the UTLS region.
She employs in-situ observational data to analyze correlations and fluxes of atmospheric quantities, contributing to understanding global atmospheric circulation patterns.
