Dr. Venkatesh M. Merwade is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Purdue University's College of Engineering. His research focuses on applying Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to water resources engineering, particularly river channel morphology.
- Education: B.Engg. in Environmental Engineering, Shivaji University; M.S. in Engineering Hydrology, National University of Ireland; Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, University of Texas at Austin
He previously worked as a project engineer at Montgomery Watson Harza (MWH) in India and as a post-doctoral fellow at the Center for Research in Water Resources, University of Texas at Austin. His research includes developing the River Channel Morphology Model (RCMM) for 3D river channel bathymetry and exploring high-quality terrain data integration into hydrological modeling. Dr. Merwade also investigates cyberinfrastructure applications in water resources engineering.
