Venkanna Babu Guthula is a PhD Fellow at the Machine Learning Section of the Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen. Previously, he earned his MSc in Geo-Informatics from the University of Twente (2020) through a joint program with the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (ISRO, Dehradun), and his bachelor's degree in Geo-Informatics from Andhra University (2017).
- MSc: Automatic road extraction from high-resolution remote sensing imagery using fully convolutional networks and transfer learning
- BSc: Geo-Informatics
His research focuses on remote sensing data analysis, combining computer vision and machine learning techniques to process satellite, aerial, and drone imagery. Current work explores environmental monitoring and urban green space modeling using sparse datasets.
His recent publications demonstrate expertise in applying deep learning to ecological challenges, particularly tree cover monitoring in agricultural landscapes (2024) and urban environments (2023). Collaborative work spans international institutions, with contributions to high-impact journals and conferences.
