Venezia Michalsen

Venezia Michalsen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Southern Connecticut State University. Her research focuses on the intersection of criminal justice, gender, and social policy, particularly examining maternal health disparities among incarcerated and reentry women, desistance theory, and systemic inequalities in the child welfare-criminal justice nexus.
