Veikko Thiele

Dr. Veikko Thiele is an Associate Professor and Distinguished Faculty Fellow of Business Economics at the Smith School of Business, Queen's University. His research focuses on entrepreneurial finance, particularly the interplay between angel investments and venture capital in startup ecosystems, as well as incentive design and organizational performance evaluations. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics (summa cum laude) from Humboldt University Berlin and previously served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. He teaches courses on managerial economics and Canadian business-government relations.

Dr. Thiele's work has been published in top journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics and Management Science. He received the 2014 Smith New Researcher Achievement Award and was nominated for the Commerce Undergraduate Society's Teaching Excellence Award in 2008. His research explores topics ranging from venture capital dynamics to pandemic policy responses, emphasizing practical insights for organizational and entrepreneurial success.
