Assoc. Prof. Vedran Rubinić is an Associate Professor at the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Agriculture, specializing in Soil Science. His work focuses on pedology, soil formation processes, and environmental soil science, primarily in Croatia's continental and Mediterranean regions.
- PhD in Soil Science (2007-2013)
- MSc in Soil Science (2000-2006)
- Employed at University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture since 2007
Research interests include soil morphology, micromorphology, loess parent materials, hydromorphic soils, and paleopedology. His work explores soil genesis in relation to climate, parent material, and human impact.
Recent publications (2023-2025) emphasize terra rossa formation, heavy mineral analysis, soil moisture regimes, and methodological advancements in pedotransfer functions. Key trends involve integrating geochemical and micromorphological approaches for paleoenvironmental reconstruction.
He has collaborated internationally (Bulgaria, Germany, Canada, Spain) and contributed to soil conservation initiatives, including proposals for geological monument status for terra rossa profiles.
Current projects focus on loess deposits' hydrogeological properties and soil-landscape relationships in Eastern Croatia.
