Vassilis Athitsos

Vassilis Athitsos is a Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering department at the University of Texas at Arlington. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Boston University (2006), an MS in Computer Science (1997), and a BS in Mathematics (1995) from the University of Chicago.

His research focuses on Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Data Mining, and applications in Gesture & Sign Language Recognition, Face Recognition, and Human Activity Analysis. Recent work includes depth-based 3D hand pose estimation, GAN applications for image restoration, and multimodal systems for cognitive assessment in children.
