معرفی
Vassilios Papageorgiou is a Professor at the Department of Mathematics, University of Patras, Greece. His research focuses on mathematical physics, integrable nonlinear dynamical systems, and discrete integrability. He has contributed to the study of Yang-Baxter maps, Painlevé equations, and Toda-type systems.
- Education: Undergraduate studies at University of Patras and Athens (1974–1978), DEA in Pure Mathematics (Paris VI, 1980), Third Cycle Doctorate in Pure Mathematics (Paris VI, 1983), Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics (Clarkson University, 1988).
Research interests include the intersection of mathematical physics and integrable systems, with emphasis on discrete-time systems, nonlinear dynamics, and algebraic structures like Yang-Baxter equations. His work often bridges theoretical mathematics and computational methods.
Publications span discrete integrability, Painlevé analysis, Yang-Baxter maps, and quantum integrable systems. Key trends involve symmetry reductions, isomonodromy problems, and connections to orthogonal polynomials.
Students: Supervised Ph.D. theses by Dimitrios Nomikos (non-integrability of Størmer problem) and Theodoros Kouloukas (Yang-Baxter maps and integrability).
