Vasileios Giotsas

Dr. Vasileios Giotsas is a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Computing and Communications at Lancaster University. He is affiliated with multiple research groups including the Cyber Security Research Centre, Cyber Threat Lab, i-DID, SCC (Security), and various Security Lancaster entities focusing on networks and systems security.

His research primarily focuses on network security, internet infrastructure, and routing protocols. Key areas of interest include BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), Anycast networks, honeypot technologies, industrial control system security, and internet measurement. His work bridges theoretical networking concepts with practical security applications, particularly in the context of critical infrastructure protection. Analysis of his recent publications reveals consistent focus on routing security, infrastructure mapping, and industrial control system defenses, with particular attention to BGP vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.

Dr. Giotsas supervises PhD students, including Pierre Ciholas who works on research related to i-DID, SCC (Security), and various Security Lancaster groups. His research projects include TAS-S (Trustworthy Autonomous Systems Node in Security, 2020-2024), Antikraak (protecting non-routed address space, 2020-2021), and Aethra (Intelligent RIPE Atlas Resource Allocation, 2018-2021).
