Varvara Nika

Varvara Nika is an Instructor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at York University, serving as CSSP Course Director (Sessional). She coordinates the York-Math Circle, an outreach program connecting mathematicians with GTA high school students passionate about mathematics. Her roles span Keele, Glendon, and Markham campuses.

Her research focuses on both technical and pedagogical domains. In technical areas, she specializes in Machine Learning (subspace-based methods), Medical Imaging, Change Detection, and Mathematical Biology. On the educational side, she emphasizes Mathematics Enrichment through contest training, Technology Integration in classrooms, and Problem-Based Learning methodologies.

Her work aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals related to Gender Equality and Quality Education. The York-Math Circle program highlights her commitment to nurturing future mathematicians through collaborative and challenging environments.
