Vangelis Markakis is an Associate Professor at the Department of Informatics, Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), where he has been a faculty member since 2009. He holds a PhD in Theoretical Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology (2005), an M.Sc. in Computer Science (Georgia Tech 2004), and a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from NTUA (2000). His academic career includes postdoctoral research at the University of Toronto and CWI (Amsterdam).

He has supervised numerous PhD and MSc students, including prominent researchers now at institutions like University of Essex, NTU Singapore, and Yale.
Scientific activities include extensive program committee memberships (ACM EC, AAAI, AAMAS, SAGT, WWW) and organizing conferences like ISCO 2012 and ACAC 2009. His teaching portfolio covers game theory, data structures, and advanced algorithms.
