Vanessa Weaver

Dr. Vanessa R. Weaver is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Course Clinical Coordinator for Nursing Fundamentals at Sam Houston State University's School of Nursing. She specializes in family medicine, urgent care, and diabetes self-management education. Her career spans 25 years in nursing, including roles at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands and leadership in professional organizations like the National Black Nurse Practitioner Association (NBNPA), where she served as President from 2015–2018.

Education: DNP from the University of Alabama (2018), MSN (2011) and BSN (2008) from Prairie View A&M University. Her research focuses on digital technologies for diabetes management, including collaboration with Healthy Interactions on the Conversation Mapp™ platform.

Awards include the Faculty Award (2011) and recognition for leadership in nursing. She is also actively involved in advancing nursing education through course coordination and clinical faculty roles in Adult Health and Nursing Fundamentals.
