Dr. Vana Hutter holds the position of Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with affiliations in the Learning and Performance department, IBBA, and AMS - Sports. She specializes in human factors, police training methodologies, and virtual reality applications in high-stress scenarios. Her research focuses on optimizing decision-making under pressure, stress management in law enforcement, and enhancing training efficacy through innovative technologies like VR.
Her professional activities include collaborative projects such as the SHOTPROS initiative, a European-funded training framework for decision-making under stress. She has supervised two PhD theses and maintains an ancillary role at NSCR (Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement) as a staff member since 2021.
