Valiulienė Edita is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Regional Development within Vilnius University Šiauliai Academy. She holds a PhD in Humanities (Philology) from Vytautas Magnus University (2015), a Master's in Philology from Šiauliai University (2002), and a Bachelor's in Social Science from Šiauliai University (2000). Her research focuses on metaphor studies, contrastive linguistics between English and Lithuanian, and semantic analysis of temperature-related concepts. She has published extensively on topics like metaphorical use of temperature adjectives, cross-cultural naming practices, and metaphorical expressions in technology and emotion studies. Her work bridges linguistics with cultural and cognitive perspectives, emphasizing comparative analyses between Lithuanian and English. Notable contributions include studies on 'heat metaphors in emotions' and 'machine metaphors in human cognition.'
Her research interests span metaphor theory, lexical semantics, and sociolinguistic aspects of language use. Recent work examines translation perspectives of perception adjectives and cultural motivations behind naming practices in Lithuania and Brazil. She has also explored the role of metaphors in medical discourse and media representation of emigration.
Valiulienė has held academic roles since 2000, including Lecturer at Šiauliai University (2008–2020) and secondary school English teacher (2000–2003). Her publications reflect a sustained engagement with linguistic theory and applied research, contributing to both academic and pedagogical domains.
