Prof Valeska Ting is a Professor of Smart Nanomaterials and Associate Dean (Engagement, Research & Impact) at the ANU College of Systems and Society. She leads research into functional nanoporous materials for sustainable technologies and holds an Honorary Professorship at the University of Bristol. Her work focuses on applications like hydrogen storage, gas separation, and environmental engineering.
- Qualifications: PhD, Chartered Engineer (CEng), Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM)
Research interests include Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), polymer composites, and sustainable delivery systems. She has pioneered studies on trapdoor mechanisms in porous materials and quantum sieving effects in gas separation. Her articles highlight advancements in MOF-based composites for herbicide delivery and oil-water separation.
- Awards: 2014 Sir Frederick Warner Medal, 2020 Top 50 Women in Engineering in Sustainability
Prof Ting supervises research students at ANU and co-leads the Dedicated High-throughput 3D-Electron Diffractometer project. Her lab focuses on high-resolution material characterization techniques.
